CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
Prime the Animation! It is an animation film festival, a non-profit cultural event organized by the research group Animation UPV (Universitat Politècnica de València) with the collaboration of Valencian students, schools, professionals and institutions. Prime the Animation! presents its animation short film competition made by new talents in the opera prima and students, without distinction of country of origin.
The event is held at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Valencia as the main venue from October 22th to 25th, 2020
1.CONTEST RULES
1.1. Prime the Animation! will accept animated short films by animation students from any country, who made their films as part of an animation training course at a Grade, Master or specialized schools. Directors with a first professional film, who finished his or her studies in the last three years, are also able to send their films.
1.2. Every technique of animation is accepted (3D Digital, 2D, stop-motion…). The film should include animation in at least 70% of the footage.
1.3. A single category is established. All submitted films for the competition must be produced after January 1st, 2019.
1.4. The allowed length, intro and credits included, is 20 minutes.
1.5. By accepting this regulation, the entrant authorises the festival to reproduce and broadcast an extract of the selected films (maximum 20 seconds) or stills of the films for the promotion of Prime the Animation! In addition, the entrant authorises the festival to reproduce and broadcast the selected or awarded film in future international itineraries of the festival.
1.6. The deadline for submissions is June the 30th, 2020.
1.7. The author, producer or distributor that inscribes the film declares to be the owner, and to own the rights of the work, making legitimate use of it. Prime The Animation! is not responsible for any complaint for copyright claim for the public exhibition of films containing protected material.
1.8. Entries for short films should be made through Filmfreeway platform, where participants will upload their film in original version with subtitles in Spanish (provided the language of the short film is not Spanish). The quality of the film should be optimal, without watermarks. If selected, movies should be sent in a projection copy in any of the following formats: HD quicktime or mp4 codec h264, BluRay, DCP.

2. EVENT
Prime the Animation! will take place on October 22th-25th, 2020 in:
- La Facultat de Belles Arts de la Universitat Politècnica de València
- La Filmoteca – Institut Valencià de Cultura
- Sedes colaboradoras (por confirmar)
The screening is non-for-profit, for professionals and general public.
3. AWARDS
Prime the Animation! will grant the following awards:
- Best International Award
- Miquel Guillem award for the best experimental animation
- Audience Award.
- À Punt Award Millor curtmetratge valencià
- Menudo Prime Award.
The Festival Direction will designate the members of the Jury that will be formed by animation experts of recognized standing and experience.
Based on the show and jury’s ratings, Prime the Animation! Reserves the right to additionally grant for Special Mentions.
The award consists in a trophy and one distribution year for free for the short film director through Movibeta platform. Special Mentions will receive a Diploma. All the awards will be delivered during the closing ceremony, that will take place on October 24th, 2020.
4. SHORT FILM SELECTED COMMUNICATION
4.1. The selected short films for Prime the Animation! Will be published on the website during the month of September 2020:

4.2. The organization will communicate by email or through HYPERLINK Platform to all participants, selected and not selected, the result of the selection and with a minimum of fifteen days in advance.
4.3. In any case the awared directors will be required to be in person in the Festival
5. REGISTRATION CONDITIONS
The participation in Prime the Animation! Implies the full acceptance of this regulation.
